simple and small losses, the surveyor inspects the
property, determines the cause and extent of loss
and submits his report.
(ii) In large, complicated losses, the process of
inspection is elaborate and comprehensive. First
the surveyor needs to recommend measures
directed at minimization of loss and protection of
salvage.
(iii) Buildings which are seriously damaged, may be
unsafe and rendered ' unsafe' by the municipal
authorities. In these cases the surveyor suggests
the measures for demolition or shoring or popping.
(iv) As regards to stocks, the surveyor suggests various
steps needed to protect them like, if it is necessary
to separate the damaged merchandise from the
undamaged portions, or ifundamaged properties may
be needed to be removed to places of safety or if
wet merchandise requires separation and drying.
