  Hersey  and  Blanchard  have  postulated  the  concept  of  Situational



               Leadership which states that the leadership style should depend on the



               "maturity" of the sub-ordinates.







              The concept of maturity here is different from maturity in terms of age



               and personality development in the life cycle, which was taken note of by


               Chris Argyris in the Immaturity - Maturity Theory.







              Schmidt  and  Tannenbaum  classify  the  style  according  to  the  extent  of



               participation or freedom given to the sub-ordinate, in decision making.







              Excellence  in  performance  becomes  possible  through  innovation  and



               creativity.







              The process of building up ideas in a group under conditions of relaxed



               enjoyment without judgment is called "Brainstorming".






              Synergy is the concept which says that the interaction of members in a



               group can create energy (abilities or knowledge) more than the sum of



               the energies of the members themselves.
