v) Recording all the details of visual inspection, examination of the policies, if
more than one policy coven the loss / damage recording details from the witnesses,
in cases of fire, burglary, inundation and similar nature claims.
vi) Organising methodical segregation of affected items, for accurate assessment
of losses / damages. The mode and nature of segregation would largely depend on
the properties of the items, nature of damages sustained and potential of repair /
reconditioning, inclination of the insured to carry out such detailed segregation,
space and weather constraints.
vii) Organising immediate disposal of affected items, if they are of perishable
nature, to the market with the concurrence of the insured and the insurer.
viii) Establishing the insurer's liability, as quickly as possible based on his
examination of policy conditions and the observed and ascertained facts of the
occurrence
a) That the claimant is the insured, and that he has an insurable interest at the time
of loss.
b) That the property damaged, lost or destroyed is the property intended to be
insured and is the subject matter of the insurance.
c) That the description of the subject matter of the policy is such as to clearly identify
all the property in respect of which claim is made.
