Women now make an insurance market in which an agent can specialise. They have
their own individual concerns which need to be satisfied. Concerns of women for the
family welfare coupled with their economic self dependence make them good
insurance clientale. In fact women are traditionally the main beneficiaries of
insurance and they understand the benefit of insurance better. They are no more
only wives and mothers, but also earning members with authority to take decisions
for the family's welfare. Keeping this fact in mind, Life Insurance Corporation of India
have come out with special plans for women only. Jeevan Sneha is one of them.
Plans like Jeevan Sukanya are products of a lot of research in the area of the
woman's special situation in our society and need to be properly understood. LIC like
any progressive insurer has appreciated the improved social standard of women and
has therefore removed a lot of restrictions which earlier existed in female insurance .
An educated and self dependent woman is treated exactly on the same footing as a
man and a position which did not exist even two decades ago.
The rising economic well-being of women represents an attractive market. Their
needs and preferences may not be much different from those of men. They have
come to occupy position in the family and society traditionaly reserved for manfolk.
However this is not to say that they do not have special needs. They live longer.
Their concern for the children's career is greater. Be sensitive to handle these needs
in your approach.
