Presently marriages are postponed to a later age. Concern for career building is a

driving force for many women. They expect their husbands to share all

responsibilities from child care and home keeping.

               2) Smaller families and their concerns:

Despite the overall explosive growth in population of the country, it is no less

remarkable to observe that most of the educated and well-to-do families believe in

keeping the family size small. Female children marry late. Even after marriage, they

postpone the first child birth and even thereafter are careful to have no more than

two to three children. Smaller families have come into fashion and its advantages

               are well understood.

This social change has impacted the family's concern for the children. A child today

is much better looked after. His education has to be the best inspite of spiralling

educational expenses. Parents do listen attentively when the prospect of child's

education and career are discussed in "terms of financial need". Providing of child's

education through life insurance is not rare. Education - both primary and college

have been quite expensive, professional education is almost prohibitive economically

               unless properly planned in advance.

Parents spend a lot of money on marriages of children - be a boy or a daughter.

However, undersirable it may be it is a social need and parents are known to have

invited untold miseries, for having not planned these expenses. It is necessary for an

insurance agent to understand these social needs and help people to solve it with

               minimum of sacrifice.
