As you can see there were initial gains, but our clicks and impressions plateaued slightly,
because we stopped posting content. In order to find conclusive results we will need to take it a
step further and see how much unique content will impact the progress.

What is the Impact of GMB CID URL 301 Redirects?

               Test Setup:

We 301 redirected the test domains to our GMB CID URL to test the impact. We’ve tested a lot
with 301 redirects to the GMB CID URL, but these tests are difficult to limit variables because
essentially ALL 301 redirects are different…

Because of the variables surrounding 301 redirects, we initially saw mixed results and had to
repeat tests. To be clear there are TONS of variables to consider outside of indexation -
redirecting page-level vs a register level, the backlink profile, website age, and number of pages
actually indexed. After repeating our tests multiple times, here’s what we found.

               Test Results: July 24, 2020

301 redirects from expired domains, "auction" domains (no website but indexed in Google), and
so on, generally did not show any results. We confirmed this with not only our tests, but also with
others who reviewed their data with us. However, once we started playing around with 301
redirects from indexed websites (with other distinct “variables”), we started to see something
               interesting…
