GOLF CLUB NAME - VENUE AUDIT
FINDINGS
The opening of the new pro-shop is a game-changer for the golf offering at XXXX Golf Club. It is a
massive improvement from the previous setup and now provides an inclusive golf product in one
condensed location. Within the clubhouse the facilities are equally impressive, extremely well kept and
easily one of the cleanest we’ve visited. We are delighted to hear of the additional furniture due in the
coming weeks and believe this is a necessary improvement to the seating area and should encourage
more use from
members and visitors.
An additional benefit to the new clubhouse is the shift in member and visitor behaviour with the golf
operations team. There is now more of an appetite to spend time and socialise around the facilities, which
allows the golf operations team to better engage with customers. There have been no changes to the
opening hours of the clubhouse since moving to the new location.
As part of our review process, we conducted a Site Assessment which we conduct quarterly. The
assessment measures the venue in the following key areas:
1. Housekeeping
2. Till Point & Counter Area
3. Window Display
4. Customer Service
5. Stock Density
6. Pricing
7. Merchandising
8. Driving Sales
9. Stockroom
10. Canteen & Toilet Area
11. Procedures
As I’m sure, you would expect the initial site Assessment was extremely positive in all areas resulting in an
impressive score of 94%. The key finding from this assessment, however, was the lack in variety of stock
available. A spring/summer order has been placed with Acushnet and is due for delivery shortly.
With regards to equipment hire, there are presently twenty-six petrol golf buggies on-site which appear to
be in good order following a visual inspection. Tommy is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of
the fleet. There is club hire at the venue; however, while the sets are well maintained, they are not of high
quality. Pull Trolleys are available at the club and situated beside the driving range and operated by a coin
release system.
Members competition prizes have been paid to winners as McGuirk's vouchers up to date. In 2019 the total
paid out was in the region of €20,000. Norma has begun the process ensuring the club stops this practice.
Vouchers for the pro-shop should be purchased from now on. This is due to be fully finalised in the coming
weeks. Actual turnover for the pro-shop in 2019 was €43,398 with Golf Equipment Hire at €28,060. There
are currently no member discounts on purchases of stock.
