became evident that post-pandemic congregational life differed significantly from
the pre-pandemic era. The pandemic left a lasting impact on many, making the
transition challenging for some. Providing members with time, patience, care and
support became imperative. Facilitating opportunities for dialogue and communal
reflection on our shared experiences became essential.
From late August through mid-October 2021, 24 Care Callers (all First Lutheran
members) provided member-to-member care to 226 First Lutheran households via
phone conversations, emails, texts or letters. What did Care Callers hear during
their interactions with members? They conveyed gratitude for the devoted efforts of
pastors, staff and leaders, alongside enthusiasm for what lay ahead. There was a
longing for a tighter-knit community, strengthened connections and a more impactful
ministry catering to diverse age groups.
The feedback provided by the members helped establish the tone and priorities
guiding the future of First Lutheran in the post-pandemic era. Even in 2024, the
lingering effects of the pandemic remain noticeable. Our faith community has
undergone irreversible changes due to the pandemic. However, one constant
remains unchanged and eternal - God's everlasting presence in our lives. Praise be
to God!

My Story. Our Story. God's Story. originated from feedback provided by members
to Care Callers in the fall of 2021. The concept for this outreach effort was
conceived by five members of First Lutheran Church, aiming to address the
community's need for stronger connections and the opportunity to collectively share
their pandemic experiences.
During Lent of 2022, the vision for My Story. Our Story. God's Story. was
introduced to the members:
