1 PAINT – Homes built before 1978 could still have exposed lead paint.
Look for peeling and chipping paint that would need to be sealed.
2 DRINKING/TAP WATER – Lead
can be in pipes and tanks. Have your water tested.
3 FOODS/COSMETICS – lmported items may
contain lead. Check ingredients and be aware of recalls.
4 CONSUMER PRODUCTS – Imported toys, LEAD IS TOXIC
jewelry, and antique toys. Check for current recalled items.
5 SOIL – Lead can be brought inside on shoes and hands or fruits,
vegetables grown in contaminated soil. Take off shoes before entering
6 JOBS/HOBBIES – Fabrication and manufacturing of metaI
products, soldering, renovations, paint glaze and pigments. Wash
hands after using these items, leave contaminated items outside.
Children should be screened at 12 and 24 months of age by their pediatrician!
