SOLAR ENERGY EXPERIENCE
CONTINENTAL SCHOOL DISTRICT SOLAR INSTALLATION
The Continental School District Solar Installation project, built for NRG Energy, Inc, included the new construction of two
11,000 square foot 347 kilowatt photovoltaic solar arrays in the lower parking lot of the Continental Elementary School
located in Green Valley, Arizona. The facility functions as an alternate energy source to the school district by generating
more than 600,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. The solar photovoltaic arrays were constructed on two steel carports
utilizing a cast-in-place concrete foundation and structural steel framing. The project also featured asphalt paving, cold
forced steel with corrosion resistant coating, low voltage electrical power conductors and cables, and grounding and
bonding of electrical circuits. Due to CORE’s construction efforts, the Continental School District Solar Installation now
reduces energy costs with renewable and natural resources district-wide.
