SOLAR ENERGY EXPERIENCE
DYSART UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT SOLAR
INSTALLATION
The Dysart Unified School District Solar Installation project included the new construction
of 10.4 megawatts of photovoltaic solar arrays at 19 schools and the district office and
warehouse located in the cities of El Mirage and Surprise, Arizona. The photovoltaic solar
arrays function as a renewable electrical power source by converting solar energy from
direct current into alternating current and distributing energy to the service entrance
sections of each facility. Construction of the photovoltaic solar arrays consisted of
mounting panels onto steel parking and playground area structures to shade parking lots,
turf play areas, and outdoor basketball courts. The project also featured concrete footings
foundations and steel structural frames. Due to CORE’s energy efficient construction
efforts, the Dysart Unified School District Solar Installation project meets the district’s goals
of reducing energy costs at every school and modeling energy conservation practices to
students and the surrounding community.
