CHILDREN’S DISCOVERY MUSEUM

The Children’s Discovery Museum project, built for the Town of Normal, included the new
construction of a three-story, 34,000 square foot museum located in Normal, IL. The facility was
part of the community’s downtown revitalization plan and functions as educational exhibit space for
children of all ages and STEAM workshops. The museum was constructed on a concrete foundation
with a steel structural frame. The project also featured the construction of a new parking lot and a
concrete retaining wall. This project achieved LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building
Council for sustainability and energy efficiency, making it the first children’s museum in the country to
earn this accreditation. The Children’s Discovery Museum now provides interactive and educational
opportunities for youth and adults of all ages in an energy efficient facility.
