What is the shortest route to scene from here?
Respond code 1 to burglar and fire alarms unless dispatch advises a person is in immediate danger.

Is there a difference between how you park at night and during the day?
Do you call for a cover?
Look around the house for signs of forced entry before approaching the front door
Make sure to enter the weather conditions in the notes.
If you find an open door and clear the house, what do you do before leaving? Do you lock the door?
Do you need to leave a business card? Yes, leave business card with reason for response in a
conspicuous place.
If you enter the building, notify dispatch so they can close the channel.
Avoid making entry through small openings or windows if possible
Never make entry alone
Locate lights and illuminate the area to be searched as the search progresses, but avoid back lighting
yourself
Anticipate ambush points
Have dispatch re-open the channel as soon as the search is over
