mother and father were waiting for him at the door. They had just woken
up. They all hugged.
Come in!” said Jeremiah’s dad, and Mr. Flannel joined them in the
living room, where they talked for hours until the morning sun began to
peep over the trees.
“Look at the time!” said mum, “Its nearly 7.30. Do you want to go to
school today Jeremy?”
“Sure, why not!” said the boy.
“Will you tell anyone at school about what happened last night?”
asked Mr. Flannel.
“Of course I will!” said Jeremiah, “But they won’t believe me. They’ll
say what an imagination I have, and laugh!”
“I never realized what a wonderful thing an imagination is,” said dad,
“I’m sorry I said what I said to you.”
“No problem,” said Jeremiah smiling, “If you hadn’t said what you
said, I wouldn’t have thought of it!”
“You saved the earth,” said mum, “You’re quite a hero!”
“I wasn’t thinking of the Earth at the time,” said Jeremiah, “I was
thinking about turning up on some alien’s plate in some other galaxy,
with tomato sauce and chips!”
Everyone laughed.
In this happy frame of mind they all had some breakfast, and then
