Page 61 - Jeremiah Lollipop
P. 61
To prove his point he ripped a branch off a tree and took a large bite
out of it, then he grabbed a passing rock and crunched it up. He walked
with his huge lumbering legs to a road and reached out to catch a
passing car. He caught one and took a bite out of its wheel. Crunch
crunch. He burped.
“Delicious bit of rubber!” he said, “I enjoy passing traffic, but my
favorite snack is metal!”
The Flooble watched in dismay as the Grand Pongo pulled the door off
the car and crumpled it up in his lizardry hand, then he tossed the ball of
metal into his cavernous mouth and chewed with satisfaction.
The Flooble was looking a bit sick now.
Jeremiah the Grand Pongo now changed into a cave ogre, all hairy and
warty, with blotchy skin and crooked teeth and evil red eyes, and big,
strong, dangly arms.
“I want to eat a goat!” growled the ogre, “But since I can’t see one at
the moment, I think I’ll BE one!”
The ogre stretched and blobbed and changed into a great, fat goat,
which lumbered about grazing hungrily on the grass and trees. It sniffed
the half-eaten car, took a bite and swallowed the engine.
The Flooble was shaking with fear.
“Are you humans capable of defending yourselves against military
attack?” it asked, in a faint voice.
