The ostrich mother lays her eggs and looks after them until they
are close to hatching.
But during this time, close by, there are other mothers sitting on
their eggs too.
If all these chicks hatch around the same time, how are the parents
going to keep track of their own chicks?
How will each mother know which chick is hers and which is not?
Here's how.
Before they hatch, the chicks cheep from within their eggs.
The parents of the chicks learn the sound of their own chicks, and
can distinguish which are theirs and which are not just by the voice.
About a week later, when the chicks hatch, they are called to by
their correct parent, and know which one to follow.
How does the chick know to cheep for a few days before it hatches?
How does the parent bird know to 11arn the sound of its own chicks?
These abilities are never learned, and even if
. an ostrich parent DID learn, it would not be
.
, able to teach it to another ostrich .
•
God who made the ostrich,
gives it the wisdom and ability.
