As far as anyone knows, the only crab that looks after its young
is the bromeliad crab.
Not only that, but this crab lives inside a plant called a bromeliad.
These plants are shaped to catch and hold water, so they have
a convenient little pond inside their leaves.
Normally, any frog eggs laid in a situtaion like this would die,
because the water temperature would be wrong, the oxygen
levels would be low, and the water would be unhealthy.
As well as this there are plenty of predators about which love to
eat eggs and tadpoles.
So the mother crab guards her eggs, clears stuff from the water,
and adds snail shells to it - the calcium carbonate in the shells
helps to neutralise the acidic water.
How could a crab possibly know about adding snail shells?
How could a crab know about clearing vegetation from the water -
which prevents it from becoming acidic?
God the Creator made the plants and the crabs,
and gave the crabs their wisdom.
