Richard Gunther
When it comes time for nesting and raising young, the hornbill
bird has an odd arrangement.
First he and his mate find a suitable hole in a tree.
They prepare a nest and the eggs are laid.
The male hornbill then seals the female in and leaves a small hole.
He spends the next few weeks bringing her fruit and insects, while
she incubates the eggs. She makes no attempt to leave.
When the chicks are ready to depart the nest, the barricade is
removed and the female comes out again.
How does the female hornbill know she must spend weeks in
her nest?
How does the male hornbill know he is the one to barricade the
nest and do all the food-gathering?
If these birds did not stick to their alloted roles, they
would be extinct.
It was God who gave them the wisdom
and the skill to do what they do.
