INWARD TRANSFORMATION
DAY FORTY:
THE HARVEST OF CONSISTENCY
Paul to Titus, "This is a faithful saying, and these
things I want you constantly to affirm,…” (3:8a).
Humans are creatures of habit. We get to choose
our habits. Often our harvests can be easily traced
back to our habits. That’s why our works will
ultimately show our faith.
The modern church likes converts. Sign a card,
repeat a prayer, and you are in the club. The New
Testament Church made disciples. Disciples, among
other things, learn to develop and practice the right
habits.
A genuine disciple is not easily deceived. They
have received teaching. They have hid the Word in
their heart, have a real prayer life, and listen to the
Spirit. They know the Shepherd’s voice. They
consistently affirm the Truth, seek to discern the will
of God, and try to do the right thing.
Whatever we constantly affirm becomes what we
truly believe. What we genuinely believe becomes
what we do. What we do influences our harvest.
Let us discipline ourselves to develop the habit of
affirming the faithful sayings of our God, practice
what we have learned, and reap in due season the
harvest of the good He has promised to those who
sow to the Spirit.
“ Be not deceived. God is not mocked. For
7
whatever a man sows, that will he also reap. For the
8
one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap
corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from
the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary
9
in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we
do not give up.” Galatians 6:7-9
