Apples and Honey Nightingale CIC
Apples and Honey Nightingale daycare and preschool is a Community Interest Company co-located in the grounds of Nightingale
House Care Home. We meet up many times daily, for both structured and spontaneous activities. Our hope is that the
relationships formed whilst the children are in the nursery will continue when they start school. We are also an education and
training centre specialising in intergenerational courses, research and consultancy and are strong advocates for
Intergenerationality.
Our Ballet Class, taught by a retired ballet professor in his 80s, meets weekly in our IG community space. The exercises are
mutually challenging and therapeutic and, helped by the music, create a wonderful sense of well-being and togetherness.
During class recently, one of our residents shared that she had
been in a dance troupe, a local resident said she had been a
professional belly dancer and an 8-year-old visitor joined us
after taking her ballet exam. (Nov 2023)
