Little Stars Day Nursery and Little Stars Nursery School
Little Stars started their intergenerational play sessions in October 2017 with a wish to
enrich the Cultural Capital of children at out day nursery settings. I had an idea to visit a
care home, and chose an assisted living center which is funded by the local county
council.
At the same time as our plans began, the TV
programme Care home for 4-year-olds aired,
and this gave me the confidence and
validation to plan and start our
Intergenerational Journey (IG). From 2017 –
2020 we featured in the news locally in
Leicestershire, with representatives from Central Co-op England funding a conference in
2019 to share our IG journeys and inspire others. We were very honoured to have awarded
the young citizen award for our nursery based on our IG sessions from our local Council.
Through the years we have delivered sessions
weekly and I am so proud that my son who
participated in these visits from 2 years to 4
years still talks about his time there at 8 years
old. The lasting impact validates the
importance of the visits, and my own passion
to share this with others. (Nov 2023)
