InCommon Case Study

InCommon brings generations together to build more connected, inclusive, age-friendly communities.

We run programmes across London that link up groups of schoolchildren with their older neighbours in retirement homes to
learn and build friendships together. We also support other groups across the UK to set up and run their own intergenerational

         projects.

We see intergenerational relationships making a difference in the communities we work with through boosting older people’s

wellbeing, building children’s social and emotional learning, and helping people feel more connected to where they live.

“There is a bit of a divide between older and
younger people. Younger people usually talk to

younger people and older people talk to older
people, so when I heard about the project I thought
         it was a brilliant idea.

Having the children come along and show an

interest in older people’s stories was so special. We
really enjoyed the children’s company and I loved

every workshop. After each session, I would feel
exhilarated - on top of the world! It was a joy
         watching the children growing confidence.”
