Giselle told me they were finalizing Jerome's buyout. As part of
Jerome's buyout, he had to agree to testify under oath what he knew
about Tonya's allegation. (You know that Negro sold them out, he
said he knew nothing.) I guess Jerome needed to start getting paid,
which was $8,000 a month. That kind of agreement could kill a
business, how could they afford to pay him that money for a year, plus
cover the $1,500 a month payment for the Range Rover he had
purchased under the company name, and his health insurance benefits
for a year. Then she said that the contract they lost could have covered
his buyout.
When fall arrived, the Thornburg's, Giselle and Leroy, went to
Kinston for the fundraiser for Big Poppa's foundation. The following
weekend Giselle and I would attend our 25 class reunion. Giselle told

me how uncomfortable she was at the fundraiser in Kinston with
Leroy because she knew in her heart, this would be the last time he
would be coming to Kinston with her. Thank God! He was also very
distant at the fundraiser and she said Big Poppa noticed it. (You know
Big Poppa does not miss a beat.)
The class reunion was wonderful. We got to see people we had
not seen since elementary school. It was a very interesting class
because our class was the first of an integration test, so the classes
before us had a riot every year from my 6th grade to the 10th grade.
It was a pretty scary period when we would hear glass breaking and
see armed police officers patrolling the halls. I think our class truly
brought integration together. By the time we reached the 10th grade,
