That’s Crazy

After she shared her journey, we were grouped in fives, and we

each had to share how we made it through the storms. I just lost it,
the tears began to flow and would not stop again, I began talking about

Leroy and the business, and those women in the group, whom I had
never met or seen before, embraced me and allowed me to pour it out.

The facilitator came and just held me because I was struggling with

the vows I had committed to God and the marriage. They were
assuring me that things were going to be alright, even though I could

not see it. After the session, one of the sisters wrote a poem for me
and offered her ear. That meant a lot.

Later that evening, there was a pajama party led by Jewel
Diamond Taylor, an inspirational and motivational speaker from

California. She started the pajama party with the song “Ain’t No
Stopping Us Now" by McFadden and Whitehead. Little did she know

that song was my business theme song in the beginning when we were
still a very small business. Whenever I heard that song on the radio, I

would blast the song over the loudspeaker and the staff had to stop
working and come and do the electric slide. It was my way of just

making work fun and silly and I live by the words of that song. So I

knew she and I would hit it off. I could feel her healing power. I did
not know how much of an impact she would have in my life, or that
God had placed her in my life to save my life.

The entire retreat was designed to let us release our pain, yet, at

the same time pamper us with some of the best massages and facials I
have ever experienced. This was a retreat that was held annually, and
