                               Saving Grace

he Sistah Summit in Vail, Colorado was coming up the weekend
of my fourth-year anniversary. I was going to Vail and Leroy was
going to Florida. The night before I was scheduled to leave for

Vail, I finally contacted the infamous Ms. Moore.

When I contacted Ms. Moore, I was in my professional voice,

“Ms. Moore this is Giselle Thornburg, Leroy’s wife, and I wanted to
know what type of relationship you are having with my husband,”

since her number seemed to be appearing on his cell phone too much
for my comfort. She told me that she and Leroy had been friends for

eight years (that did not register with me yet) and that he cuts her

lawns, had helped her with issues she was having with her ex-husband,
and they had worked in the same building.

I told her I was uncomfortable with the amount of interaction
between her and Leroy and that both were disrespecting me, and the

relationship needed to end. I wished I had some ghetto in me and
could have cursed her out. But there I was, “Mrs. Prim and Proper,”
