Thornburg, was the one paying the mortgage.
Crazy Leroy finally realized he did not have a leg to stand on, and
so he began to negotiate his move-out date. Giselle told him she would
be moving on Labor Day weekend, whether he had moved out or not.
She had already planned another trip to her newfound sister-friends at
the annual retreat, "The Sistah Summit" in Vail, Colorado. God's land
and she and her daddy would move in after the trip.
In the meantime, Giselle began to prepare for Big Poppa’s move
to MD. She knew the move would be a difficult move for him and she
decided they would throw one big fundraiser for his foundation. They
had always had celebrations for everything. Ever since she left Kinston
at 18, Big Poppa would always throw a party for her every time she
came back home. He was the ultimate event planner; I guess that is
where she inherited her event planning skills. Big Poppa always made
her feel as though it was a celebration whenever she came home.
I knew how much Kinston meant to him and how much he meant
to the town. He had dedicated his entire life as a police officer and
later as a city councilman to his beloved city. During his tenure as a
city councilman he appointed the most minorities as heads of city
departments. He was also able to find funding for a park for children
living in public housing. The park was later to be named in his honor.
While preparing for Big Poppa’s arrival, Giselle also had to also
deal more with crazy Leroy. Crazy Leroy wanted to leave his lawn
