mowers in the garage until he moved to his new place. She agreed. By
the grace of God, a sister-friend connected her with a real estate agent,
who found another renter for the condo, so Giselle would not be stuck
with two mortgages. The renter was a sister who was also on the run
from a crazy ex. She needed a place of reprieve.
Giselle had arranged for the movers to come to the condo for the
big move on Labor Day weekend. She was to meet crazy Leroy the
week before the move to pick up the keys. I was there too, because I
was not sure what his emotional state would be, having to give up his
castle, so I was there in case we had to jump his ass for acting stupid.
Giselle told me that in many ways, she began to see the similarities
between crazy Jerome and crazy Leroy. They both used the business
and the house to demonstrate their success in society.
She said when Jerome was first terminated; everyone would
jokingly place her on a Code Orange status. It corresponded to the
codes designated by the government to determine what level of terror
the United States was in, the codes that became effective after the
terror of 911 when the NYC World Trade Center was destroyed.
Someone had to escort her to her car each night. She said she was
constantly looking over her shoulder.
Strangely, regarding the two of them, I was more concerned
about crazy Leroy; at least Giselle knew what Jerome’s mode of
operation would be. She said if he was going to knock her off, he
would use someone else, he would never get his punk hands dirty.
