That’s Crazy

At the same time, I had to begin to pack up and shut down the

office. My girl Stephanie stayed until the end to help me sort out
everything. The biggest lesson God showed me through Stephanie and

Sally is that I cannot judge a book by its cover. Throughout all these
years, I thought white women were my enemy. I came to learn that

had it not been for these two white women, Sally and Stephanie,

having my back, I would not have survived this turmoil. They believed
in me and saw the manipulation of both Jerome and Tyrone. Tyrone

always having his hand out just like Jerome, even though he was
working at another company, he was still expecting to be paid. The

fact that it was two sisters who sunk me, helped me to learn that it is
not about a person's color, it is about a person's character. I do not

care what color you are now if your character is not right, I want
          nothing to do with you.

We closed the office doors on April 1; how ironic, April fool’s
day. I finally was able to at least breathe and close that chapter.

God also hooked up a sister. On one of my contracts that I had
transferred to another minority firm, the agency came back to me and

asked for what the government called an incurred cost submission.
Which, based on what we spent in specific categories, determined

whether we owed the government money, or the government owed

us. I had our accountant provide the information they requested, and
I know it was nothing but my God. The government came back to me

and said they owed the company $85,000, which meant I could make
the final payroll, pay taxes owed, take care of the remaining attorney
