That’s Crazy

In the background, she had Erykah Badu’s song “Bag Lady” playing.

That was very symbolic to me of the baggage we all tend to carry. She
began to remove each handbag one by one, showing us all how to

          release our bags.

By this time, I was sitting in the corner behind her, crying, along
with the other 150 women. Now that she had broken us all down, she
had each table to hold hands, and I was still sitting in the background.

She looked at me from the corner of her eye and could see I was

breaking down. She ordered me to join a table of women to grab
hands. At the same time, she was playing another song, Hezekiah

Walker, “I Need You to Survive." The tears began to fall; I was releasing
all that had occurred earlier in the week. My inner circle came over and

just embraced me, and kept singing the words in the song, "I Need You
          to Survive.”

When the retreat ended, I was just emotionally drained. My sister
Jewel always delivers a powerful message. She brought 150 women

together and there was no cattiness. We were all as one, I knew then
God placed her to help me through the madness. She left the next day

and I was joking with her about how I am a professional and I was
supposed to be assisting her and she could not have her assistant

crying and all broken down at the events, but now that she had broken

me down she was flying off. We had a good laugh.
