The first day of the conference became my worst nightmare. Our

IT guy managed the database of participants who had registered for
the conference. We printed the name badges from the database. The

meeting was a high-security meeting and the name badges had to be
presented before they could attend any sessions.

As people began to arrive early for registration, there was a notice
of an immediate glitch, more than half of the name badges were

missing. I knew at this point, the IT guy had been the inside

connection for crazy Jerome, and he had sabotaged the database. We
were beginning to have people to stand in another line to have their

badges reprinted, which included many of the agency staff. The lines
became horrendous and people were getting impatient, we were also

running out of supplies, of course, I was not prepared to reprint
              approximately 700 new badges.

I had to fall back on my conference management skills and ran to
Staples down the street to purchase all the blank name badges and

holders they had. As I was driving to Staples, a snowstorm came from
nowhere, it was raining then snowing. The wind was blowing hard and

I was trying to be at Staples as soon as they opened.

I was able to get the supplies and start the processes of getting
badges to everyone. Fortunately, we had two heavy-duty laser printers
and were able to get the missing ones printed quickly. By the afternoon

everything had finally settled down. The client was so angry, she could
