Even though Deborah had dimed her out, Shannon continued to
have a relationship with Deborah in an attempt to stay connected to
what we were up to. She was feeding information to Deborah about
Jerome.
At this point in the game, I believe Deborah was trying to
determine who the weakest link was. She continued to feed me
information about the things Shannon was telling her, in particular,
about one of the employees that I suspected Jerome was sleeping with.
Deborah told me that, according to Shannon, Jerome was sleeping
with Melissa, a junior conference manager we hired two years earlier
and Melissa indicated that if she did not receive a $10,000 raise and
promotion, she would sue the company. I always felt Jerome was
having an inappropriate relationship with Melissa, but I just could not
prove it.
After hearing that information, I immediately contacted Jerome
and Tyrone and told them what I thought Melissa was planning.
Jerome immediately contacted Melissa and told her what was being
said. Jerome was hot and denied everything. Tyrone believed him, of
course his little lap dog would!
By winter, employees were up for their annual reviews and salary
increases. The three of us would generally sit down and agree on
everyone's increases. Jerome wanted to give Melissa a $10,000 salary
increase. Deborah, trying to suck up to me, had given me copies of
Jerome cell phone records indicating the number of times Jerome had
