As a consummate researcher and practitioner in the field of education, Dr. Bernard
Frost focuses on ways to improve instructional practices and student achievement. He
continuously researches new strategies to meet the needs of administrators,
instructional coaches, teachers and students. The learning gleaned from his research
provides an excellent basis for comparison with previous skill sets as a classroom
teacher which immediately yields dividends in its applicability to his various roles in
school districts. Frost says, “Inspiring other educators provides great insight on the
future of education and allows him to have an impact on it.”
Dr. Tom Peters serves as Executive Director of South Carolina's Coalition for
Mathematics & Science (SCCMS) founded by BMW Manufacturing Co., DuPont,
Michelin North America and Duke Energy in 2004, and hosted by the College of
Engineering, Computing, and Applied Science at Clemson University. He has applied
his expertise and passion for STEM learning in a variety of settings including middle
school, high school and university classrooms.
Alva White dedicates herself to the field of math education in Richland School District
One located in Columbia, South Carolina. Formerly as a classroom teacher for middle
school, curriculum resource teacher, and currently as the district’s Secondary Math
Middle School Consultant. Her love for mathematics reaches beyond district level with
her dedication to other math leaders through South Carolina Leaders of Mathematics
(SCLME) and South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (SCCTM). Co-author
of Mathematics: The Productive Struggle, Mrs. White continues to support educators in
understanding that learning has no ceiling.
