                   English Language Learners’ Mathematics Problem

                                                        Solving

English language learners seem to struggle to set up an appropriate equation to
represent a situation and appear bound by the equation modeled to set up the

situation in lieu of another strategy that might have produced a correct answer,

underscoring the complexities involved in making sense of algebraic content using

               the mathematics register.

                                              Statistics Education

In this talk, we will have a brief overview of the new GAISE II document for statistics

instruction/assessment. Then we will explore a free, web-based statistical analysis

application that can be used by teachers to support their students' statisical thinking
skills and literacy. Bring a laptop!
