                     Thursday 2:45-3:45 Session: S47 6th - 12th Level Carolina B Room

Let math come alive by collecting and analyzing data using the TI 84

Plus family or TI-Nspire CX family of graphing calculators

We can all agree that understanding data has become important in many areas of
life! Students are much more engaged when they collect their own data, and this is

easy with the TI 84 Plus CE. We will use the list feature to enter our own data and

also collect data using a temperature probe and analyze this data to determine a

line of best fit, discuss correlation, and predict behavior. We will also learn how a

CBR2 motion detector can be used to help students build a conceptual
understanding of distance and time. Face-to-face and virtual data collection options

will be discussed and instructional content for all modes of teaching and learning

               will be provided.

                    Thursday 2:45-3:45 Session: S48 9th - 12th Level Lexington B Room

                       Understanding Your World through Statistics

Students need to approach statistics in a way that gets them motivated. This session

will allow us to share ideas, where students can come up with ideas that can be

statistically analyzed and make the students more aware of the facts. Getting them

to see their ideas and beliefs put to the test and either statistically proven or
disproven. Come with ideas to share with others.
