               Thursday Session E16 1:10 - 2:30 202C

CONNECTING THE DOTS - ELEMENTARY DOMINO MATH
                          GAMES FOR DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION

Come prepared to play games that use standard dominoes, that are perfect for whole class or
small group instruction. Games are easy to differentiate - concepts covered include: subitizing
and counting, operations, multi-digit operations, place value, graphing, mental math and
problem solving. Handout will contain gameboards, ideas for management, ready to use
Monday a.m. This workshop will show you the powerful connections that can be made with
               domino games, our student's favorite!

               Thursday Session E17 2:40 - 4:00 101B
Bring Math Alive - Collect and Analyze Data Using the TI-

84 Plus CE and TI-Nspire CX II

Understanding data is important in many areas of life and students are much more engaged
when they collect their own data. We will explore how a CBR2 motion detector can be used to
help students build a conceptual understanding of distance and time, including the connection
to rate of change, speed and velocity. We will also collect data using a temperature probe and
analyze this data to determine a line of best fit, discuss correlation, and predict behavior.
