Stop, Collaborate, & Listen
Thinking Mathematically Together
Session 114 will be held in Ballroom C from 3:10 - 4:00
In Their Own Words: Geng the Most Out of the Lesson Objecve
"Today we are going to learn about…" isn't that how most lessons begin? Let's
shi the paradigm to refrain from announcing the objecve, and instead close
with a "Math Meeng" where students debrief the lesson experience.
The result is reflecve students arriving at an authenc understanding of concepts
expressed in their own words Grades PreK - 2
Andi Misemer, Great Minds
Session 115 will be held in the Hall of Fame Room from 3:10 - 4:00
Decoding Our Students’ Messy Boards
Students arrive with messy boards, not blank slates. This workshop tells the story
of G6 - A2 linear funcons per the new SC Standards for Mathemacs, assessing
high-cognive-demand tasks. We’ll make conjectures about what students might
bring on their messy boards and help them decode them to engage and
producvely struggle with math tasks. Grades 6 - 12
