Internet shopping. Convenience, choice, and savings are
the reasons I now prefer to do my shopping online.
Convenience is the main advantage of shopping over
the Internet. If I want to, I can shop at the same large
discount store where I shopped on that miserable
Saturday afternoon, but with no long lines and no
squalling babies. On the Internet, I do not have to circle
a huge parking lot searching for a space. I can shop in
the quiet and convenience of my own home, with jazz
playing softly and a cup of hot chocolate in my hand. “No
shirt, no shoes, no service” does not apply on the
Internet. Flannel pajamas and fuzzy bunny slippers are
well within the dress code. And if it’s midnight, I can still
shop. The Internet is open all night.
A second advantage to Internet shopping is choice.
Living in a medium-sized city, I don’t have access to the
full range of shops that a large metropolitan area would
offer. However, the Internet connects me in minutes with
a full range of retailers. Since the online environment
offers a wide range of stores from Walmart to Tiffany, I
am sure to find something within my price range. In
addition, a wide variety of merchandise is available. I
can listen to samples of music at online music stores
and buy the tunes I enjoy. I can buy gifts, flowers, candy,
and personalized T-shirts for Christmas, birthdays, or
Mother’s Day. I can even buy textbooks for my classes
