Kimball requires a group project and presentation at the end of the
term rather than a traditional term paper. In contrast, Dr. Bettman’s
style and classroom requirements are quite different. She does not
joke during class, and she is extremely organized. Her lectures are
almost in outline form, and she gives little hints about what might
be on the test. Dr. Bettman’s tests are in essay format, and she
expects students to use their knowledge in new and creative ways. At
the end of the term, she requires a research paper, complete with a
bibliography. Both Mr. Kimball and Dr. Bettman are able instructors,
but each approaches lecturing, testing, and outside projects in a
different way.
