               Practice 15-4 Correcting Run-ons with a



               Semicolon




               In each sentence, underline the spot where the run-on occurs. Write

               RO in the blank to the left of the sentence if it is a run-on (fused
               sentence), CS if it is a comma splice. Then correct the sentences

               using a semicolon alone.




                                        1. Registration for classes will be held until Thursday

                        the late registration period runs through Monday.


                                        2. Stephanie bought a five-year-old Toyota, newer

                        cars were too expensive.



                                        3. Diego fell from a swing and broke his arm at
                        recess, the school immediately notified both of his parents.



                                        4. Jason buys a lottery ticket every week, he calls it
