10.8.3 Pitch Factor

               The pitch factor is due to the use of short-pitch coils as has been shown in

               Fig. 10.8. If the winding is made with full-pitch coils then, pitch factor K  is

               equal to 1. The pitch factor is defined as the ratio of the EMF induced in a
               short-pitch coil to the EMF induced in a full-pitch coil. Let β be the angle
               through which the coil is made less than the full pitch. The pitch factor, K  is

               the ratio of the vector sum of the EMFs induced in the coil sides to the

               algebraic sum of the EMFs.
