           Solution:
           The 3-dB splitter splits the optical pulse into two pulses, each with half power.
           The delay occurring in fiber 1 is  L = 0.5 × 10 −8  × 1 × 10 −3  s = 5ps.

           To have a separation of 25 ps between pulses, the delay in fiber 2 should be 25 ps + 5ps = 30 ps. Therefore,
           the length of fiber 2 is given by
