Ego is something that develops in all of us, during childhood, usually
around the age of three or four. It is, in fact, an essential part of
growing up and turning into a functional, mature human being.
Without it, we wouldn’t have had the ability to function properly in
this world.
By coming to terms with this process, we also understand that, just
as ego is a natural part of our evolution, its transcendence is just as
natural. Transcending our ego completes our maturing process, al-
lowing us to express our utmost human potential. This transcend-
ence has many names, the best-known of them being “awakening” or
“enlightenment”. Both terms symbolize the metamorphosis of ego,
from a limited, “private” sense of identity, to a whole, integrated and
universal sense of identity.
How can you manifest this transcendence for yourself, in your own
life?
The first step is acceptance.
Accept the fact that your way is not separated from life’s way. Accept
that your current position, the environment that you currently find
yourself in, regardless of its nature, is the perfect place to be in right
now. Accept that no matter how hard, how nasty or how difficult
your current situation seems to be, coping with it is an essential part
of changing it. The only beneficial thing you can actually do for your
happiness is coming to terms with your current position. In this way,
it will be reveal to you, that happiness was always with you and was
not, somehow, a goal to be chased in the future.
