Lancelot Yates, Lance Corporal #7125, enlisted in the NZ Mounted Rifles

9 Contingent and embarked on the SS Devon to South Africa. He fought in
the Boer War and died aged 85yrs and is buried in St Joseph Anglican Urupa,
Awanui.
Lance’s; great grandmother Ta Ngapaura Puatai is a sister of Te Ripi;
Rangatira o Pukepoto and Ahipara.
