Herewini Rapihana, Private #16/580, enlisted in the NZ Maori Contingent
and embarked on the HMNZT Warrimoo. He fought and died at Anzac,
Gallipoli aged 23yrs according to his enlisted records and now lies in Chunuk
Bair. Herewini’s actual age was younger than his enlisted age, he was 19yrs
when he was killed in action.
Herewini’s: great grandfather Ta Patana is a brother of Te Ripi; Rangatira o
Pukepoto and Ahipara.
