attend some of those activities. It’s important to feel relaxed,
have fun, and reach people naturally, and be proactive to take
those actions.
Paulina: I think scheduling meetings is important. If you know
somebody then it's a little easier to send them an email and ask
them to connect as you mentioned, but when you don't know
have five things in common etc. That could be important even
if you don't know anything else about them. Having video on
can help you get closer to the in-person type of interactions, yes
we're not getting all the cues, we're not picking up the energy,
we can't see all the body language, it's a little bit harder to tell,
but we can still pick up a little bit more than what we could if
we're on a Zoom call with the videos off. It's more likely that
people will talk to you, so even when you're networking in large
events, make sure the camera is on, make sure you're
responding and paying attention. For the one-on-one
networking conversations, put in that time for small talk, and be
genuine, be yourself, be real, be honest. Another tip could be to
check your internet connection and the video camera, and be
aware that you're visible on screen.
