Tutorials
The members of this committee are the tutors selected by IPIC.
Prepare and organize the patent and trademark tutorials which are directed to candidates
registered to sit for the qualifying examinations for patent and trademark agents. The tutorials
include written exercises intended as a final honing of the candidates skills and offer some
general guidelines on writing the exams.
PUBLICATIONS & SERVICES
The following committees work in delivering quality publications, information and services to IPIC
members (i.e. CIPR and website).
Editorial Board of the Canadian Intellectual Property Review
Publish on a regular basis the Canadian Intellectual Property Review. The committee solicits
newsworthy items of potential interest to Institute members and arranges for their
publication.
Insurance
The mandate of the Insurance Committee of the IPIC is threefold. First, it is to monitor the
Errors & Omissions insurance coverage program offered to members to ensure the broadest
coverage at the lowest cost. Second, the Committee, in association with the relevant insurance
companies and brokers, provides information and education with respect to Errors &
Omissions insurance issues. Third, the Committee oversees the IPIC's internal insurance
coverage for its directors, officers, committee members and property.
Membership and Information
The mandate of this committee is to make suggestions for the development of IPIC’s
publications, website and services and ensure quality control. Activities of this committee will
include: review of content, develop strategies and tools to recruit new members and propose
improvement to the services provided to members and to the communications with the
members.
REGULATORY FRAMEWORK
Professional Regulation Committee
The purpose of this committee is twofold: to seek statutory protection from disclosure of
communications between clients and their patent and trademark agents and to seek
modernization of the regulatory framework of the patent and trademark agent professions in
Canada.
