Patent Agent Examination Standards Committee
The members of this committee are appointed by Council.

The Patent Examination Standards Committee reviews the development and administration of
the Patent Agent Examination in order to assist the Examination Board in maintaining
recognized standards for certification, including the security, practicality, fairness, scoring,
reporting, technical analysis and documentation of the Exam.

Trademark Agent Examination Standards Committee
The members of this committee are appointed by Council.

The Trademark Examination Standards Committee reviews the development and
administration of the Trademark Agent Exam in order to assist the Examination Board in
maintaining recognized standards for certification, including the security, practicality, fairness,
scoring, reporting, technical analysis and documentation of the Exam.

SPECIAL INTEREST

These committees discuss current issues and share their knowledge and expertise between
members of their committee and with all members. These committees may also do advocacy
work.

Alternative Dispute Resolution
The purpose of this committee is to inform IPIC members and intellectual property (IP)
stakeholders in Canada of matters related to intellectual property alternative dispute
resolution (ADR), to promote awareness of the benefits of greater use of ADR in resolving IP
disputes, and to provide education to members and stakeholders.

Foundation – Fundraising
The IPIC Educational Foundation is a registered charity. Its object is to encourage education
and scholarship in the IP field. The Foundation currently awards prizes for the students
achieving the highest marks in the Patent Agent and Trademark Agent exams each year. The
trustees of the Foundation and IPIC Council wish to expand the role of the Foundation and to
increase the capacity of the Foundation to provide financial support to worthwhile educational
activities in the IP field.

The mandate of the Fundraising Committee is to:

1. Identify specific needs for financial support to enable IP practitioners and students to further
their education and scholarship.

2. Develop and execute a fundraising strategy to meet those needs.
