he Wiang Phang Kham Plain…
Tprimary location of Thailand
Wiang Phang Kham is a valley flat on the west bank of the Mekong River surrounded by Doi Tung, mountain ranges
with fertile areas. Fifteen traces of settlement similar to the “Muang Pom Phu Khao” pattern were scattered around
the edges of Wiang Phang Kham plain and at least thirty traces of evidence were found on the nearby plains. Peasants used these lands for farming
in the same pattern as Na Muang Na Fai. Moreover, the two rivers, Mae Kham and Mae Chan, ran through the southern area and
Muang Chiang Saen before flowing on to the Mekong River, while Nam Ruag, another river, ran through the northern area before flowing
out to the Mekong River at Muang Sop Ruag. On the edges of the southern area was
the Nong Wiang region created by land subsidence as seen nowadays.
