Gulf of Thailand - Angkor Wat
“Si Mahosot” has been a living community since
Funan-Dvaravati or before. Here, some archaeological
objects were found in the city moat. A dragon-shaped
bas-relief was seen on the pond wall south of the city.
Moreover, some sculptures showed the influence of
Funan Culture and Indian Amaravati Culture in the 1
st
th
- 5 centuries CE. During this time, irrigation systems
had already played an important role in agriculture. Also,
some archaeological objects from China, Persia, and
from India were found. These were evidence indicating
that trading and exchanges among foreign travelers
existed. All the mentioned ancient places, inscriptions
and holy images showed people’s cultural relationships
and religion related to India, Sri Lanka and Cambodia.
Si Mahosot City had been a hub of its community until the
13 century CE.
