HOUSES
Great
The students in Great House have made the house
a very friendly and welcoming place to be. The
boys have really enjoyed events that have brought
them together such as the pool competition,
house breakfasts and Chartwell treats including ice
cream, popcorn and chocolate heaven. They have
also been keen to get involved in the paintballing
and ice-skating trips we ran in the autumn term.
The new house match format has meant greater
participation, and they have embraced the
opportunity to try different sports and events. We
have been very successful in rugby, cross country,
squash, table tennis, water polo, tennis, linguistics
and maths. It is wonderful to see so many of our
students’ individual achievements in sport, music
and drama recognised at the Summer Celebration.
We wish all our Year 11 and Upper Sixth students
and leavers every success as they embark upon
their next ventures.
Holmcroft
It was amazing to see and follow Josh
participating in his 3000-mile Atlantic row
from La Gomera to Antigua. He dodged
storms and came first in the pairs – an
epic display of endurance, tenacity and
commitment. We like to think that these
characteristics are being developed across all
the boys during their time in Holmcroft. We
won junior house rugby and have put strong
teams out in most other competitions, with
swimming gaining more attention and success
this year. The water polo house matches
involved an epic come back from the brink
situation with a last-minute golden goal
and high standards. At Rosslyn Park Sevens,
Holmcroft boys represented their teams
across three different age groups. This was
the year that winning just eluded us, but we
all learn and plans for the big comeback are
already in place. The boys are making the
most of the hard court, table tennis, pool
table and swimming pool each week. Treats
and trips continue and boys forge friendships
during their time in the Croft.
